As talent becomes the key frontier on which organisations compete, the ability to select and hire the right candidate for the job has become even more critical. In this application-oriented microworkshop, participants will master technical and behavioural interviewing techniques.
This is an intense, hands-on, and mastery focused workshop. Participants will learn the nuances of the interviewing techniques through role plays, case studies, and simulations. At the end of the workshop, participants will undertake an online simulated assessment where they will be required to conduct two interviews (behavioural and technical). Participants will receive a certificate of proficiency at the end of the workshop.
Skill drill 1: Cognitive Biases that Impact Interviews
In this skill drill, we will explore the impact of cognitive biases on candidate evaluation and assessment. We will explore five cognitive biases:
- Confirmation Bias
- Affinity Bias
- Halo Effect
Skill drill 2: Behavioural Event Interviewing
In this skill drill, participants will explore the Behavioural Event Interviewing (BEI) process. Participants will understand the type of questions to avoid and the type and sequence of questions that should be asked during a BEI. The key objectives of this skill drill are:
- Develop an appreciation for the Behavioural Event Interviewing (BEI) process
- Apply the BEI process using the STAR technique
Skill drill 3: Technical and Functional Interviewing
In this skill drill, participants will explore the 5Ws interview process (developed by Skills Café) for conducting technical interviews. The key objectives of this skill drill are:
- Explore the 5Ws process for conducting technical interviews
- Apply the 5Ws process
Skills Drill 4: Online Proficiency assessment
Participants will be required to conduct a series of online, simulated interviews. Based on their ability to apply the 5Ws approach and the STAR technique, participants will receive a detailed proficiency report card at the end of the simulations.
Note: The online proficiency assessment can also be completed by participants post-workshop.
